We welcome back Georgina from Dear Diary Vintage, who will join us this Sunday 26th November at Brighton Open Market. Find out more about what she has in store for you…
Please introduce yourself and your brand…
Hello, my name is Georgina and my brand is Dear diary vintage. Dear diary vintage is about remembering and unashamedly celebrating that 12 year old girl (or boy!) that lives within us all. The same girl who used to start each page of her diary entry using her best handwriting and fountain pen with Dear diary…
Here at Dear diary vintage we are proud of having a ‘Peter Pan complex’, after all what’s so great about growing up?
How would you describe your style and your creations?
I work mainly with wood, glitter, vintage illustrations and my Dymo machine creating jewellery and reminiscing about bygone days. My work is loved by children, teenagers and adults who simply refuse to give into growing up! Join me in a fairy tale land where there is always glitter, unicorns and dinosaurs roam freely, cat ladies are celebrated and typewriters are still used.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
Without a doubt meeting my customers. One of my favourite moments was when a customer picked up one of my wooden unicorn brooches and actually squealed in excitement! I love thinking of my creations in their new homes and the happiness they bring. I also love the feeling of constantly being inspired especially when reading vintage children’s books.
What can we expect to find on your stall at The Fairy Tale Fair Christmas Special at Brighton Open Market on Sunday 26th November? And are you looking forward to taking part?
Firstly, glitter! Its the season to sparkle after all so I’ve been working on lots more glitter based jewellery lines. It’s the perfect stall to pick up a unique Christmas present/stocking fillers that will make you and your loved ones smile. Please pop over to my stall and say hello, we can discover Alice in Wonderland, cats, space, unicorns and many other treasures together. I’ve also tried to make my work accessible for all budgets even those on a pocket money budget will find something here as prices mainly range from £1.95-£10.
I’m really excited to take part Fairy Tale fair is amazing! There is such a magical atmosphere and its the perfect place to do your Christmas shopping and support local independent makers.
Do you have a best seller?
My Alice in Wonderland range of wooden brooches are my best sellers. It turns out there are lots of fellow lovers of this timeless book.
Do you have any plans or ambitions for the future?
By next year I would love to have my own website. I’m still having a love affair with my mint green Hermes Baby typewriter but it’s really time for me to broaden my horizons and increase my online presence. Though, nothing excites me more than seeing my work in bricks and mortar shops and meeting my customers face to face.
Do you have a motto or inspirational quote?
‘Growing old is mandatory.Growing up is optional.’
Describe your Christmas in 3 words…
Glitter, chocolate and love. I love all the Christmas sparkle and I adore all the kitsch Christmas decorations. I also love indulging and eating wayyy too much chocolate especially those chocolate covered coins I still get in my stocking ! Love because Christmas is the time to spend it with your friends and family and to show love to strangers who might not have anyone to share it with. So put your glitter on, get the decorations up, tuck into some chocolate and embrace random acts of kindness.
