Meet the Maker: Earth Botanicals

Hand CraftedNo commentsNovember 3, 2025Claire

Please introduce yourself and your brand and how would you describe your style and your creations?

Earth Botanicals is the studio and online shop of Cleo Gabriel, dedicated to crafting thoughtfully designed, carefully made skincare and lifestyle products with a commitment to quality and care. Inspired by a foundation certificate in herbal medicine, Earth Botanicals creates handcrafted soaps and Jesmonite dishes in Brighton, UK, using premium oils, natural clays, and a gentle superfatting process. Drawing from the elements—Fire, Earth, Water, Air, and Ether—each soap offers more than cleansing; it nurtures the skin with nature’s gentle touch.

Environmentally friendly Jesmonite trays and dishes are meticulously crafted to complement each element, featuring drainage to extend soap life. Quality and sustainability form the heart of Earth Botanicals, where every product is made with care and consideration.

What do you enjoy most about your work?

I love designing my products!  Soap and Jesmonite are very similar, as they both require the use of a mould and both need curing – I can also adopt the same designs across both mediums such as with terrazzo and marbelling. I like that the possibilities are endless and I never stop learning.  I also enjoy meeting people at various craft fairs and markets.

What can we expect to find on your stall at So This is Christmas on Sunday 7th December at Worthing Charmandean? And are you looking forward to taking part?

When you visit my stall at So This is Christmas, you can expect my collection of 10 soap bars from the Elements collection – each superfatted with premium oils, all entirely natural and made with quality ingredients and essential oils.  You will also find complimentary soap dishes with trays which are durable and have been made from an eco-friendly composite, so they are earth-friendly too!  There are incense bowls, each with an entirely individual design; keeping in theme with functionality; they are deep bowls and are very aesthetic. Also for the first time this year are essential oil candles made with rapeseed and coconut wax and are poured in a reusable Jesmonite container, along with matching tealights.

Do you have a best seller?

Soap bars are always a winner, however due to the functionality of my designs my Jesmonite homeware sell just as well.  A soap and a dish with tray is a marriage made in heaven.

Do you have any plans or ambitions for the future?

I would love to teach.  Teaching is part of my background and I cannot wait to run workshops for Jesmonite homeware and soap bars.

Do you have a motto or inspirational quote?

There’s a plant out there for everyone – Sajah Popham.

I like this because its true and it calls your name.

Describe your Christmas in 3 words…

Feast, Family, Fun
