Little Handmade Works of Art
Hi I’m Alex and I am the artist behind MegaLilyDesign. I have developed my practice to be mainly focused on Linocut Printmaking. I simply love the medium of printmaking and the results that can be achieved with simple tools. Despite my love of linocut I still paint and enjoy creating limited numbers of little bird watercolours and acrylic still life paintings.
My main inspirations are from the natural world including the mysterious ways that human’s interact with it. I did not train formally at art school – I headed off to work in the theatre and then healthcare! My Dad was a professional artist, so a few years back I found myself with most of his painting equipment and decided to take a one year part time fine art course to hone my skills and haven’t looked back since.
I opened an online shop on Folksy in Autumn 2020 and love being part of the Folksy community. Many of my prints are open editions making them an affordable way to own tiny original artworks. Other prints are in limited editions and occasionally editioned reduction prints which make a wonderful special treat or gift for any art lover.
I also have a tiny workspace and #shopinashed at Cobblestone Walk in Steyning, East Sussex. This is open most Saturdays and details can be found on my website, I am always happy to chat about all things Printmaking if you drop by!
