Playful designs to make you smile
Welcome to Stoats & Weasels, the home of colourful and fun greetings cards, prints, button badge and fridge magnet gift sets, tea towels, and other playful items. Many products are themed around the weather, the seaside, animals (mostly cats and bears), or food and are all designed to make you smile. All products are designed by me, Lisa Bamford, from my Brighton based graphic design studio.
After spending my childhood growing up as far away from the sea as it’s possible to get (the Midlands) I still get excited when I visit a different seaside, even though the one here is literally at the end of my road, ha!
I studied graphic design at Kingston University in south west London many moons ago and my day job is still being a graphic designer. For the past 8 years I’ve also been making more effort to create my own work too and let my inner child play. It’s such fun to get the daft ideas out of my head and into the outside world. I love it when my work makes people smile, I think that’s what I like best. One of my favourite memories is being at a craft market… a very smartly dressed lady in her 80s (at least) was being wheeled past my stall and she pointed at one of my designs, screeched “TITS” at the top of her voice and then shook with laughter. My Mum must be so proud…
My favourite quote, and motto for life is “you don’t stop playing because you grow old, you grow old because you stop playing.”
When I’m not graphic designing (and often when I supposed to be) I enjoy creating playful and colourful designs for greeting cards, prints, tea towels, badges, fridge magnets and pocket mirrors. My ideas come from living by the seaside, things that amuse me, what’s happening in my world, food, the weather, quirks of British life and just a love of drawing bears. My favourite animals are otters (after my cat of course) but they’re really hard to draw, oops!
