We’re excited to introduce Charlotte Marie Design who we can’t wait to welcome at Worthing Charmandean this Sunday for our So This is Christmas fair in aid of St Barnabas.
Please introduce yourself and your brand….
I am Charlotte Marie, an Illustrator and surface pattern designer based in Gloucestershire, UK. I make colourful and cheery designs that are available to buy as prints, notebooks and greetings cards as well as some fabric products too. I also have a little sideline with my dad making print hangers out of recycled wood found in his skip …oh I mean garage!
How would you describe your style and your creations?
I like a handmade look to my work. It usually starts with preparing papers with lots of colours and textures and these get transformed into paper collages or papercuts to use in my illustrations and surface designs. I am inspired by adventures in the countryside, 80’s films, overheard conversations, country folk…anything and everything really.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
Cutting and sticking and colouring in!
What can we expect to find on your stall at So This is Christmas in aid of St Barnabas on Sunday 3rd December? And are you looking forward to taking part?
I’m really looking forward to it – especially since finding out my stall is next to a macaron one!
I will have lots of greetings cards, notebooks, prints and print hangers for sale as well as some original papercuts. I will also have some pencil cases, fabric buckets, tote bags and a few Christmas decorations too.
Do you have a best seller?
Anything with my coral print on seems to sell very well.
Do you have any plans or ambitions for the future?
I’m hoping to sell lots of designs at a trade show called Surtex in New York next May. I am also in the process of writing and illustrating a children’s book, so will be pestering publishers with that in the near future.
