“I love vintage goodies so working in the textile field using vintage materials is like a dream come true for me. Its great being inspired by the fabric itself and knowing you can breath new life into it.”- Sue, Bunting Boutique
Tell us a bit about you and what you do/ make….
I am the maker and designer behind the company Bunting Boutique.
Bunting Boutique can be found down on the sunny south coast, tucked away on a side street a stone’s throw from the beach. In our studio surrounded by an array of fabrics, trinkets and knickknacks we lovingly make every strand of bunting by hand.
The vintage ranges are our signature and are little works of art in their own right as each piece is totally unique. By incorporating things like a crocheted doily, a gorgeous trim detail or an area of hand embroidery, every piece has its own story, its own history and we hope a wonderful future.
How would you describe your style?
Classic with a vintage edge.
How long have you been making your craft items?
Bunting Boutique has been up and running since 2009 but I have been working in the textile field for 12 years
What do you enjoy most about your craft?
I love vintage goodies so working in the textile field using vintage materials is like a dream come true for me. Its great being inspired by the fabric itself and knowing you can breath new life into it.
I also love working on bespoke orders – helping brides to personalise their special day, mums to create bunting to fit in with their child’s bedroom colours or simply working with clients on our personalised lettering service using appliqué or hand embroidery.
Do you take part in other craft events (fairs, open houses, markets etc…)?
This year for the first time we have taken part in a few Vintage Wedding Fairs that has been great.
I have always been involved in the open houses and this December the Boutique will be showing at Cross Street Workshop in Hove. We will also be at the Designer and Maker Fair in Lewes Town Hall on 1st December.
What are your plans/ ambitions for the future? Or have you already achieved them?
I have lots of plans for Bunting Boutique, now that our new website has gone live I hope to have an online shop put on there soon. Plans to expand our wedding ranges will take place in the spring of next year, to offer brides more inspirational ideas for their big day.
I am always expanding our existing ranges, brand new this autumn is our Christmas Advent Bunting and we have just developed a paper range using vintage children’s books. Long term I would like to continue using vintage materials and develop a home ware range.
Any other comments you wish to make:
