Today we welcome a new face to The Fairy Tale Fair- Deanna O’Keeffe. Find out all about her and her jewellery, which you’ll find at our racecourse fair on December 6th. She has an exclusive product on sale too!…
Please introduce yourself and your brand
I am a Brighton-based jewellery maker. I make statement pendant necklaces by breathing new life in to vintage brooches.
Tell us about your creations and how you make them
Each piece I make is unique and given a contemporary twist with wire-wrapped bead drops. I search out brooches from antique fairs and boot fairs, and have a large collection of vintage, new and semi- precious beads which I use to embellish my designs. I like to mix textures and colours, which gives my pieces their uniqueness. In a single brooch pendant I might use a combination of faceted sparkling Swarovski beads and smooth creamy fresh water pearls to complement or contrast with the brooch’s colour and design.
How long have you been making your creations?
I started making beaded jewellery a couple of years ago, learning my skills at workshops in a Brighton, Bath and London. I began selling my jewellery designs this year on line, and the Fairy Tale Fair will be my first opportunity to sell my work in person.
Do you have a best seller or most popular item?
One of my most popular pieces (viewed the most on line) is a pink aurora borealis rosette brooch pendant with three wire-wrapped drops of a fresh water pearl, Czech crystal and vintage glass beads. It is from my ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ collection and I will have many other lovely unique pieces from the collection for sale on 6 December.
I will also be bringing pieces from my ‘Flower Power’ collection, comprising floral and leaf brooch pendants. The prices of my pendants from both collections range between £24 and £38 each.
Will you be selling some festive themed creations for The Fairy Tale Fair?
Exclusively for the fair, I will be bringing miniature versions of both collections for dolls. They will make wonderful stocking fillers, and prices will range between £5 and £8. Barbie will be with me to help model the necklaces.
What are your plans for the future?
I am currently designing and making a new collection of summer festival wear for 2015, called ‘Summer of Love’: vintage brooches adapted to make long pendant necklaces.
The best thing about Christmas
The party season! I hope you will find a lovely new statement pendant made by me to wear with your party dress.
I look forward to meeting new customers on 6 December.
In the meantime, you can find out more about me and my collections on my website and Folksy:
