Today we’re pleased to welcome a new member of the Fairy Tale Fair family, Susan D’souza Textiles, who’s artworks we look forward to seeing up close at our fair on Sunday 4th December at Worthing Charmandean…

Please introduce yourself and your brand….

Susan D’souza Textiles is the brand name I created about 8 years ago for the textile artworks I make and the textile workshops I run.

How would you describe your style and your creations?

Nature inspired and consciously crafted, my pieces are made using textile materials but often look like paintings with delicate areas of layered textile collage, batik or stitched detail.

What do you enjoy most about your work?

Being in nature observing details, colours and seasonal changes, then getting back to the studio to become absorbed in translating these images through textile materials.

What can we expect to find on your stall at So This is Christmas on Sunday 4th December at Worthing Charmandean? And are you looking forward to taking part?

A range of framed original textile artworks as well as prints and cards alongside smaller preserved and stitched leaves in glass frames. I am really looking forward to taking part, I don’t do many fairs but know that this is a nice one as I have previously been as a customer.

Do you have a best seller?

My prints of Sussex landscapes, I will be launching some new ones at the fair in December.

Do you have any plans or ambitions for the future?

I work at Northbrook College as a textile lecturer and have set up a natural dye garden there, I plan to extend my knowledge and use of natural dyes which feature in much of my current work. I am also working on a series of images based on walks around my local Worthing landscape and Sompting Estate which I hope to exhibit next year.

Do you have a motto or inspirational quote?

When I need some extra courage I say to myself ‘You’ve Got This!’
