Today we meet Laura of Cubbkids who we can’t wait to have this Sunday 8th December at Brighton Open Market.
Please introduce yourself and your brand….
Hi my name is Laura and I’m the designer/maker behind Cubbkids. Cubbkids is a collection of handcrafted gifts for children and adults alike, inspired by nature and vintage camp life. The range includes personalised patches, organic fleece camping ponchos, adventure gift sets and outdoor themed bedroom decor. All designed and made from my small home studio in Brighton.
How would you describe your style and your creations?
My style and brand aesthetic is very much influenced by my love of camping and the great outdoors. My products are inspired by vintage camp and scout gear and Americana. I have also been told it is very Wes Anderson. I think that’s because I use a lot of scout green and mustard yellow!
All my creations hopefully inspire children to get back to nature and get outdoors and have some adventures.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I feel very lucky that I get to be creative everyday and do something that I love. I have such lovely customers too and it gives me a lot of pleasure to think that one of my creations may play a part in someones next camping adventure or one of my pennants be a part of their home.
What can we expect to find on your stall at The Fairy Tale Fair Christmas Special at Brighton Open Market on Sunday 8th December? And are you looking forward to taking part?
I’m so looking forward to taking part. I have always come as a customer but never been a stall holder before so I can’t wait! I’m be selling a mixture of Christmas themed goods, like decorations, vintage inspired festive decor, and stockings along side my embroidered patches, pennant flags, enamel mugs and much more!
Do you have a best seller?
My pennant flags are currently my best seller, particularly my Family name pennant.
Do you have any plans or ambitions for the future?
Just to keep growing slowly as a business and continuing to do what I love. I have lots of ideas for new products which I can’t wait to start working on next year.
Do you have a motto or inspirational quote?
My favourite quote ever is ‘if life deals you lemons, make lemonade’
Describe your Christmas in 3 words…
sun, sand, sleep
(not very festive I know but looking forward to a hot winter holiday!)
