Say Hello to… Lapidosus Designs

Today we are pleased to introduce Lapidosus Designs who join us this Sunday 9th April at Worthing Charmandean. Find out more about their jewellery…

I’m Lela, the designer and maker behind Lapidosus Designs. My passion is to make meaningful individual pieces of jewellery often with a narrative in mind. Many of my pins and gifts are inspired by fairy-tales, legends, books and history. I also enjoy incorporating semi-precious stones into my jewellery in order to create a further emotional experience.

Some of my pieces have a definite steampunk quality to them, others are more classic creations, many have a strong colour theme. My favourite stones are agate, lapis lazuli, haematite, labradorite and carnelian but I bring many more stones into my makes.

I find making jewellery an excellent outlet for my creativity. After I lost a close loved one at St Barnabas Hospice, I found making jewellery a way for me to tell stories when I was struggling to find words. Now I most enjoy sitting down with a range of charms or beads and just seeing how things come together.

I’m thrilled to be taking part! They’ll be a colourful array of different items from agate pendant necklaces, to silver pins, to steampunk bookmarks.

My watches and my kilt pin charm brooches have a tendency to fly, so catch them while you can!

I always have lots of ideas jostling around in my head waiting to be made. My plan is just to keep making and having fun and hopefully others will continue to enjoy my work. I’m so grateful for all the support so far. In the near future (June/July this year) I’ll be taking part in the Worthing Artists Open Houses Trail again so I’m really looking forward to that too.
