Please introduce yourself and your brand….
Hi, I’m Abby, passionate crafter, wife and mother of two and I’m the owner and creator of Button Up Birdy.
How would you describe your style and your creations?
I love all things vintage and you’ll often find me in a swing skirt or anything 40’s-60’s. Above all, my style is always colourful, in my clothes and in my products. I love to create from scratch and also upcyle and recycle whenever I can.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I really enjoy seeing the finished product finally come together. It’s such a journey with all my products from beginning to end. I love how the items develop and take on a life of their own, especially when I get to play around with which colours look best together.
What can we expect to find on your stall at The Fairy Tale Fair Easter Special in aid of St Barnabas at Worthing Charmandean on Saturday 17th March? And are you looking forward to taking part?
I am so excited to take part in the Fairy Tale Fair, it’s my first ever fair, so there are a lot of nerves too! I’ll be selling my bespoke paper flowers, button jewellery and hair accessories of all kinds including buttons, bridal and kids. I will also be showing my bridal paper bouquet collection.
Do you have a best seller?
My best sellers are my flowers. I’ve worked hard to create an unique rose and I really love to make them, it feels great that other people love them too.
Do you have any plans or ambitions for the future?
My plan is to work full time for Button Up Birdy. I am determined to make a success of something I really love to do, isn’t that everyone’s dream? To find something you love and do it forever? I have weddings booked in this year and interest has been steadily increasing over the last few months. Because the nature of my work is totally bespoke I will never get bored and my customers will always get a unique product.
Do you have a motto or inspirational quote?
Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say and not giving a damn – Orson Welles
We’re all in the gutter but some of us are looking at the stars – Oscar Wilde. I actually have this one tattooed on my arm!
What part of Easter do you enjoy the most?
Who isn’t going to say the chocolate?! But actually for me it’s the flowers and the colours of spring…..and chocolate 🙂
