On Saturday 15th August we welcome Hiku Designs for the first time to our fair at Brighton Open Market. In fact this is her first ever craft fair and we think her baby creations are just beautiful! Find out more…
Please introduce yourself and your brand….
Hi everyone, my name is Aga and my brand is called Hiku Designs. I make modern baby, kids and interior accessories, such as baby bandana bibs, super soft baby blankets, natural wood teethers, fabric toys, kids cushions and luxurious baby gift sets.
I love what I do and I make sure that all my products reflect my love and passion. I am a mum myself, and understand that baby products musts not only be super cute but they also need to be practical and safe. My designs are finished with great care and attention to detail, ensuring that each item will last through many squeezes, cuddles and washes! My fabrics and supplies have the correct certification to make sure that they are super safe, even for new born babies. As a mum I would like to offer unique and exciting products which I would be more than happy to give to my own son.
How would you describe your style and your creations?
When I had my son Oliver over a year ago , I found that most baby items on the high street are very similar and mostly boring. Everything was blue or pink! I was looking for bright, modern colours and interesting patterns for my son’s accessories and his nursery.
This is how Hiku Designs was born.
Hiku is all about bold, modern and sometimes unusual patterns in all the colours of the rainbow!
When I researched for cute cottons I also came across this amazing new fabric called ‘Minky’. Minky is a plush fabric with a little dimple dot texture. It is incredibly soft and cuddly, It’s lush texture is smooth and fur-like soft. Once touched, it causes a great urge to snuggle, cuddle and huggle in children and adults of all ages! As soon as I made my first blanket using minky I knew I had to incorporate it in my other designs! Minky also comes in super bright colours, which suited my style perfectly!
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I obviously love the process of designing and creating my products, however the most enjoyable part is when I can see a smile on my customers little faces!
It makes me so happy and gives me that real creative boost when I know that my designs are truly loved (and used a lot!).
What can we expect to find on your stall at The Fairy Tale Fair Brighton this Summer? And are you looking forward to taking part?
The Fairy Tale Fair will be my very first fair, so it’s understandable I am both excited and a little bit scared at the same time. I really hope Brighton mums and babies will like my products.
I will be selling very exciting and colourful items suitable for newborn gifts, as well as your own baby essentials and kids accessories. On my stall you will find a selection of our popular Hiku Blankets , fun -shaped kids cushions (the giant elephant cushion is my son’s favourite!), organic bamboo bandana bibs, natural wood teethers (perfect for stylish teething monsters!), amazing gift sets and much more. Please come to say hello and have a browse!
Do you have a motto or inspirational quote?
I don’t have a motto as such, however I would never be able to do what I do if it wasn’t for my family. My son Oliver is my great inspiration and my lovely husband James has been incredibly supportive on my Hiku journey.
