Today we welcome LEJS Carpentry who join us at The Fairy Tale Fair Patcham on November 16th. Find out more about Luc and his work before the day…
Please introduce yourself and your brand….
Hi my name is Luc and I’m a carpenter from Brighton. Most of my work consists of built in units, bespoke storage and other woodwork around the home but I also love to collect off cuts and reclaimed/salvaged timber to make useful and beautiful wooden gifts.
How would you describe your style and your creations?
I mostly like to create pieces that have a purpose and are practical. I personally believe wood looks amazing either rustic and natural or simple with clean lines. These two styles bring out the natural beauty of the wood so you will see a good mix of these designs at my stall.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I love to be creative and come up with new ideas. I enjoy helping people to find the right solution for their space and making ideas work and function. I also love putting on that first coat of oil and watching the wood grain pop!
What can we expect to find on your stall at The Fairy Tale Fair Christmas Special at Patcham on November 16th? And are you looking forward to taking part?
I do really enjoy taking part in craft fairs; especially one as popular as the Fairy Tale Fair. It’s great to see people supporting local makers and small businesses. You will see a decent range of wooden crafts at my stall with a slight emphasis on kitchenware; trivets, spoons, spatulas, cutting boards, wine caddies and bottle openers. There are also candle holders, coasters, boot jacks, bath caddies and phone/tablet stands.
Do you have a best seller?
I have a few items that have sold well since I started over three years ago but the one thing I will not take part in a craft fair without are my rustic trivets in the shape of a large button. They’re made from old scaffold boards or reclaimed timber joists and always sell really well.
Do you have any plans or ambitions for the future?
I enjoy making wooden crafts and bespoke furniture so I hope my work will head more in that direction in the future. If I ever upgrade to a larger workshop, I’d love to continue the wooden crafts, make larger pieces of furniture and build bespoke kitchens.
Do you have a motto or inspirational quote?
Try to be kind, work hard and be honest.
Describe your Christmas in 3 words…
Food, games, food (“family” is a close fourth place)
