Say Hello to Lovely Deer

Brighton, Fairy Tale, Hand Crafted, JewelleryNo commentsOctober 17, 2014Claire

Please introduce yourself and your brand…..

Hello! I’m Gemma from Lovely Deer and all my creations are inspired from nature. I am normally surrounded by my two pugs, Gizmo who is always asleep or pretends to be, and Sherlock who is constantly running off with pens and all sorts. I design a range of woodland inspired home ware and jewellery.

Tell us a bit about your creations and how you make them….
I create high quality home ware products which add a touch of whimsy and delight to any kitchen. I begin by doodling and applying these doodles/ illustrations with a sprinkle of imagination to a range of bespoke usable ceramics and home ware. I create products with a handmade charm and source materials from small local businesses in the UK.

This year I have begun creating a range of silver jewellery, I love sitting at my work bench sawing away creating new bespoke pieces and adore making pretty shiny things.

How long have you been making your creations?

Lovely Deer has been open for around a year and a half, but I have always made things or as others say making a mess.

Do you have a best seller or most popular item?

Our tea towels especially the woodland animal picnic tea towels and our large ‘Bunnies Love Cake’ cake plates.

What do you enjoy most about your craft/ work?

I love making an idea in my head a reality and the process from start to finish. When I’m making jewellery I love the last polish, making the piece complete. I really enjoy commissioned work as well as so much thought goes into each piece, its so personal and meaningful.

Will you be selling some festive themed creations at The Fairy Tale Fair?

Yes this is my favourite time of year! I will be selling beautiful copper Christmas tree decorations and of course some cute Christmas cards!

What are your plans or ambitions for the future, or have you already achieved them?

My main dream is for Lovely Deer to be a huge success so I can quit my day job and do something I love everyday.

Describe what Christmas means to you in 5 words or less!:

 Magical, family, reindeer, presents, eating
