Today we welcome The Homegrown Flower Company who we are looking forward to having this Sunday at Brighton Open Market. Find out more about them…
Please introduce yourself and your brand….
We are Amelia Holmwood and Zelie Billins, the creators of The Homegrown Flower Company.
We are a florist and cut flower grower based in Mayfield, East Sussex. Our flowers are available to buy fresh from the field for DIY arranging, or we offer a full bespoke floristry service for weddings and events. We are passionate about using the freshest seasonal blooms which capture the beauty of an English country garden.
How would you describe your style and your creations?
We grow an array of glorious flowers and foliages, including many that are not easily found in the average florist. The varieties we grow include (to name but a few!) tulips, ranunculus and narcissus in Spring, wonderful scented sweet peas, roses and peonies in Summer, and sumptuous dahlias, zinnias and cosmos in Autumn. Our flowers are available from the end of March to the middle of October. During the winter months we offer bulbs forced for Christmas blooms, handmade, foraged wreaths and dried table centre pieces. Everything we produce is either grown or foraged for by ourselves. Sustainability and local sourcing is key to what we do.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
Being outside and working with the seasons. Observing the changes in nature and the effects that those changes have on our production is a constant challenge.
What can we expect to find on your stall at The Fairy Tale Fair Brighton on November 13th at Brighton Open Market? And are you looking forward to taking part?
Of course! This a first for THFC, we will be selling a selection of handmade, seasonal and festive wreaths. A selection of bulbs forced for Christmas including amaryllis and beautifully scented hyacinths as well as some handmade unique Christmas decorations.
