In the first of our Christmas 2019 sponsors interviews we welcome Holly from Studio iO who are one of our lovely sponsors of our Brighton Open Market fair on Sunday 8th December. Find out more about their space and classes…

Tell us a bit about Studio iO and your journey so far?

Studio iO for me has been about providing a space to escape and feel like walking into a sanctuary of calm and tranquility where you can practice yoga, Pilates, Tai chi and meditation. After teaching yoga for over 12 years I taught in many spaces that felt, cold, damp and dark, often in old church halls that smelt too. When I found the space over 8 years ago it was an old disused car workshop, my vision was to build a bright and light space that was clean and welcoming. Today the studio is known for it’a small group classes that are about healing and restoration, everyone really feels a sense of peace when they come.

What do you enjoy most about owning Studio iO?

It is a real joy to hear all the positive comments from people who come to the studio. Meeting all the wonderful teachers that teach here and building a community of caring individuals. Coming to the space has been life changing for some and I one particular student of mine sums it up with her words.

“Holly has been fundamental towards my rehabilitation and recovery. I came across StudioiO through a recommendation after my immune system crashed and I was barely able to walk. Since then, Holly has guided me, motivated me and helped me rebuild my strength in such a trusting and non-judgemental environment. On my first day, I was scared, and embarrassed about being so weak and inflexible. But holly was so patient and even adapted her classes for me. After 1 month, I could do things I thought would never happen, and after 6 months I continue to get stronger. I couldn’t recommend Holly highly enough.. she cares about what she does, and she’s blimmin’ good at it! thanks holly xxx”

Thank you for choosing to support The Fairy Tale Fair at Brighton Open Market. Are you looking forward to the fair on December 8th?

We are so pleased to be part of the the Fair this year and with it being just around the corner from the studio this is a project we’re happy to support in our community. I’m looking forward to seeing all the local crafts and arts, sampling some cakes and doing some Christmas shopping. Plus my two young children will love the face painting so my whole family can come and enjoy the day.

Do you have a motto or inspirational quote?

When I went travelling in my early twenties I read the book Shantaram and the one line in the book that always sticks with me is “Every human heartbeat is universe of possibilites” it’s nothing profound but it reminds me that everyday we can make a difference however small but it keeps me positive and motivated.

What’s your favourite part about Christmas?

Family, friends, food and wine. Walks out in the country and the joy in my children’s faces.

How can we find out more about you?

The studio has just launched memberships which we feel is very unique, we have teamed up with The Grand Hotel Spa so that along with unlimited classes at the studio, members will get yearly access to the spa with fizz on arrival and discounts off treatments. We have also partnered up with local brands offering discounts to all our members.
