Please introduce yourself and your brand….
Hi! I’m Tash, a self taught wildlife illustrator based out of London. I started my small business, Hatchling Makes, just under 5 years ago after leaving my career in live theatre. I’ve always been a huge animal lover and through my business I highlight strange, unusual and under appreciated endangered animals to raise awareness about them. I also fundraise for wildlife conservation through my business and 10% of every sale is donated to different wildlife organisations!
How would you describe your style and your products?
I would say my style is simple and colourful. My aim is always to put a smile on people’s faces but for them to also recognise the weird animals I draw!
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I love researching all the different animals and choosing what wildlife org to fundraise for next! It’s amazing to see the different conservation work that goes on throughout the world. And I love spending an afternoon drawing at my desk with some music on!
Do you have a best seller or favourite to make?
Washi tape has definitely been my best seller in 2021! That’s a really fun product to make too. I also love designing enamel pins – I designed my first ones this year and I’m totally hooked now!
What are your plans or ambitions for the future?
I would love one day to have my own small shop and stock mine and other small businesses products! I’d also love to be stocked in some zoos or aquarium gift shops but as my products are all limited edition it makes it tricky to wholesale them!

Do you have a motto or favourite quote for inspiration?
I sometimes get really bogged down in perfectionism so I always have to remind myself “done is better than perfect”.
