Say Hello to… Make, Do & Trend

Brighton, craft, CuteNo commentsNovember 3, 2014FTFadmin

Today we welcome Kirsty of Make, Do & Trend, who will be joining us at our racecourse fair on December 6th and our Open Market fair on November 23rd. Find out all about her creations…

Please introduce yourself and your brand…..

Hello I’m Kirsty from Make, Do & Trend and I love making things! Not only do I create and sell handmade homewares, I also run contemporary craft workshops inspired by current trends. I like to be able to recreate the trend pieces I see in magazines at a fraction of the cost you would pay for them with the satisfaction of making something myself or teaching others how to.

Tell us a bit about your creations and how you make them….

I create handmade items inspired by current trends, whether it’s using the medium of canvas, books or even fabric. Most of my designs include the use of hand or machine stitching, a technique I used whilst at University to personalise my illustrations. I also sell DIY ‘make-kits’ for some of the craft workshops I run, with full instructions and material to make the items if you are unable to attend one of the workshops.

How long have you been making your creations?

Make, Do and Trend was my final project at University after discovering a gap in the market for classes with a focus on current trends and every since graduating from my Fashion degree, I’ve been wanting to make it a reality; here it is 2 years later! Once I started creating samples for the workshops, I realised I could sell some of the items which has now grown into a range of trend inspired products.unnamed-78

Do you have a best seller or most popular item?

My most popular selling items are my folded books and the most popular workshops are the Rustic Kilner Jars.

What do you enjoy most about your craft/ work?

I most enjoy seeing my creations being used in ‘real life’, whether it be a Rustic Kilner Jar being used as a vase with flowers in or a commissioned anniversary date folded book in a newlyweds home.

Will you be selling some festive themed creations at The Fairy Tale Fair?

Yes definitely! I will be selling festive folded books, baubles and fabric Christmas wreaths.

What are your plans or ambitions for the future, or have you already achieved them?

I’d love to expand into wedding and children’s workshops as well as continuing to grow the products I sell and keeping on top of the current trends!

Describe what Christmas means to you in 5 words or less!:

Family, Food & Christmas crafting!
