Please introduce yourself and your brand….
EastWing Grooming Co has quickly become a popular choice for bearded gentlemen, in the few months since launch growing rapidly in popularity. Company owners James & Gary create luxury style beard care products, gaining celebrity endorsements from several professional sportsmen. Their products work to the highest standards keeping guys beards and skin soft and moisturised with luxurious aromas. Due to the company’s team of qualified Herbalist & Aromatherapist with a collective 35+yrs of expertise, all their oils and balms come professionally blended whilst also looking great on your bathroom shelf with their clean sleek brand of black frosted glass bottles.
How would you describe your style and your creations?
We hand blend 100% natural beard care products for guys who care about their appearance and beard/skin health. We incorporate a team of industry professionals including our Herbalist, Aromatherapist and various barbers which gives us an experienced insight into working with natural ingredients for men’s grooming compared to the majority of our competitors. Avoiding the stereotypical Viking/lumberjack image associated with beard products, we aim to fulfil the professional needs of the more suited and bearded gentlemen that like their high-end style and luxury products.
What’s your connection with Brighton & Hove Albion Captain Bruno Saltor?
We can’t thank him enough for his support especially plugging us on his social media. He’s a lovely guy and deserves being the local hero that he is due to the amount of community work he does. He’s one of our favourite customers and we’ve had the pleasure of meeting him several times now. To know he uses our products makes us very proud being that we’re local Brighton fans, plus he must have the most recognised beard in Brighton.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
The sheer variety of our days is almost like a dream sometimes. For two guys who’ve spent over a decade in finance, we are more used to the office environment. However, in the last 5 months since launching the company, our days can go from blending an array of oils and waxes in the lab to having 3-way meetings with clients in China and the US. The uptake in professional sportsman that have commented on how much they love the aromas, hold and style of our beard oils and balms is a bit surreal sometimes and always brings a smile when we get to hear from them. From a small idea, the feedback from customers to national magazines such as GQ, House of Coco and Men’s Fitness makes the long hours’ well worth it. We just love people loving what we do so much.
What can we expect to find on your stall at The Fairy Tale Fair Fringe Special on Saturday 12th May? And are you looking forward to taking part?
We will be bringing along a range of refreshing beard oils for leaving guys beards and skin soft and moisturised as well as matching aroma firm holding balms. This gives guys the benefit of smelling great whilst styling their beards with nourishing 100% ingredients. It’s funny the majority of our customers are women looking to treat the men in their lives. They absolutely love the aromas we blend and the fact it leaves guys facial hair from stubble to full on manly beards so soft we know we’re bringing people together as it makes them so much more kissable.
We’re really looking forward to coming as it’s our first time here and we’ve spoken about Fairy Tale Fair for some time having heard great things at other fairs we’ve attended. We’ve been busy trying to release two brand new aromas in time for the fair too which will be exciting as hopefully, they’ll be ready just in time.
Do you have a best seller?
It really depends on the person trying it as a scent is such a personal thing. It’s why everything we create not only has to pass our seal of approval but also our team of barbers who put us through our paces. With our current range, our Mellow Orange aroma is probably the most popular.
Do you have any plans or ambitions for the future?
We’re focusing on expanding the product range throughout 2018. We’re also reaching out to new stockists, including barber shops, salons and gift shops, so more customers get to find us. We are also currently talking to stockists worldwide which is incredibly exciting and invite anyone interested to get in touch.
Do you have a motto or inspirational quote?
We use the motto “Professional Look, Professional Feel” in everything we try to achieve. If it looks, smells and works to the highest of standards then we know it’s ready for release. Surrounding ourselves with industry professionals helps us achieve this and we continue to evolve and grow our network to maintain our professional image.
To date, what has been the highlight since launching?
In such a short period of time, you’d think that be an easy question with little to choose from but we’ve had so many amazing moments over the last couple of months that it is actually a tough one.
The phone call from GQ was definitely one that had us dancing around the office. We said from the start if we could make it into GQ within the first 12 months of launching we were on the right track and had the right style. They called 10 days after we launched and asked if they could feature us in their top gifts to buy a dapper gent for Christmas. We couldn’t believe we’d caught their eye so quickly and they couldn’t believe we were only 10 days old. We’ve now decided to start setting harder goals
