Today we’re excited to introduce Wick Guru who are new to our fair and join us this Sunday 3rd December at Worthing Charmandean.
Please introduce yourself and your brand….
Hello, my name is Hadera, and I’m the founder of Wick Guru, a modern candle brand on a mission to light up the world sustainably. We handcraft eco-friendly candles and donate 5% of profits to provide solar lights to developing countries – we see it as light for light!
It all started during lockdown. Whilst everyone was baking banana bread, I decided to take a 1-to-1 online candle making class with a professional because I love being creative. From there, I got hooked and started testing different formulations until I mastered the art (and science) of candle making. A couple of years later, Wick Guru was born.
At Wick Guru, sustainability is at the core of our values. Our candles are crafted in small batches using 100% natural soy wax, which is not only renewable but also biodegradable. Our packaging is plastic-free, and all of our scents are non-toxic and vegan.
How would you describe your style and your creations?
Wick Guru stands out in the candle market by offering a perfect blend of luxury and affordability. Our candles feature a distinctive minimalistic design with matte-black containers (which fit in with any home decor) and our cream-textured packaging, providing a touch of elegance without the hefty price tag. I wanted to make that moment of coming home and lighting your candle as special as possible, so aesthetics were super important to me.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I love how I can use both my right and left brain. Being the only person behind Wick Guru means I have to do everything, which means sometimes I’m doing something super creative, and the next minute I’m working on more strategical things. This mix means that I’m constantly learning, and it keeps things exciting. I also love hearing the feedback from our customers. Recently, a customer told us they love our Baked Cookies candle. Not only do they think it smells delicious, but it also makes them feel super nostalgic, reminding them of baking cookies in their childhood. I never get tired of hearing comments like that!
What can we expect to find on your stall at So This is Christmas on Sunday 3rd December at Worthing Charmandean? And are you looking forward to taking part?
Our fun winter candle scents, from Treehouse (my family’s fav) to Vintage Bookshop! We also like to do some fun games with our customers, like “guess the scent,” so definitely pop by! I can’t wait to join the Fairytale Fair – I’ve had my eyes on it for a couple of years as a dream fair to attend so it’s crazy that it’s now a reality! My favourite part of fairs is getting to talk to our customers and seeing them light up when they sniff our candles in person.
Do you have a best seller?
Our tealight sets are our bestsellers (which isn’t surprising as it’s a great way for our customers to try out all of our scents before committing to a full size). As for a particular scent, Baked Cookies and Roasted Coffee are top sellers!
Do you have any plans or ambitions for the future?
The support we’ve had so far has been so heartwarming, but Wick Guru has only just started. I have so many exciting plans for next year; one of them is creating completely unique scents which you can’t get anywhere else!
Do you have a motto or inspirational quote?
1% better every day. It helps remind me of the impact of showing up every single day, but it also takes off the pressure of every day being significantly better than the previous day.
Describe your Christmas in 3 words…
Food, family, and “Home Alone.”
