Today we welcome Liz of Rejewelvenation jewellery for the first time, find out a little more before The Fairy Tale Fair Worthing on Sunday 14th April…
Hi! My name is Liz and I am the designer and owner of Rejewelvenation. I love to make jewellery, but not just any old stuff!
My unique pieces are created by rescuing, renovating and up-cycling vintage and antique beads that are ‘past their best’. The result is a brand new item that is highly wearable and modern while also retaining its vintage charm.
I take the old and transform it into something new and truly unique. This means that all of the pieces made by Rejewelvenation are strictly ‘one-offs’ as there are never enough beads to make multiple pieces: every item is truly personal and just for you.
Our items also come with a little history card that gives you background information about your jewellery and beads. We detail their history and legacy for you, so you can be sure of the wonderful history behind the beads.
At ReJewelvenation, the ‘bead’ is king (…or queen!)
Some of the beads we rescue are so rare and unique that it would be wrong to swamp the bead and lose it in a complicated design… That wonderful handmade foil swirl bead from the Victorian era does not want to be lost in the mix!
The most fun part of Rejewelvenation is the creation… or re-creation of the jewellery!
Sometimes the design part is easy and the beads just form into the perfect strand. Sometimes it takes a bit longer to work out what goes with what, so there is fun in making sure that we can match the colour and original design in order to get the best from each rescued bead.
I will have lots of pieces on display at the Charmandean Fairy Tale Fair. You can also have a go at designing your own bracelet, which I will then put together for you ‘while you wait’. So you can try your hand at a bit of jewellery design using our vintage and antique beads and then wear your own creation with pride. (This is a special, one-off offer so be sure to grab yours on the day!)
My Christening Gift bracelets are one of my best selling items:
For these, I place a simple but beautiful birthstone at the centre of the bracelet alongside beads that both complement the centre stone and also come from the parents’ birth decade.
A recent beautiful September birthday piece included stunning pearls from the 1980s (the decade her parents were born) and even tiny crystal flowers from the 1930s (the great grandmother’s birth year, who had been the inspiration behind the baby’s name.)
These pieces are both a delightful memento and truly personal gift for a very special day. They also come with an adjustable silver slider clasp so this bracelet can be work from quite an early age right up to adulthood.
The beads we use truly are rare finds and sadly it becomes more difficult to find these unique beads each and every year. Of course, I have thousands of beads in stock at the moment and will continue creating my unique jewellery pieces for as long as I can.
We source beads from all over the world and even have a ‘new’ ‘old stock’ of beads that were made especially for iconic designers such as Miriam Haskell. These beads are so incredibly popular that’s it’s difficult to hold onto them for long..!
My creations are available on my Etsy shop: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/Rejewelvenation
I keep the shop updated as much as possible with new pieces. My items are sold all over the world and I have even created a special ‘suite’ of jewellery to match a wedding outfit for a customer in America as well as a ‘bridal’ necklace for a customer in Australia.
My bridal range is inspired by the famous rhyme: ‘something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, a silver sixpence in my shoe’. All our bridal pieces incorporate both ‘old’ and ‘new’ beads with a tiny ‘blue’ bead at the back of the necklace for luck, and we also include a real ‘sixpence’ for the bridal shoe. (Admittedly, the borrowed bit is something we haven’t managed to recreate yet, as I don’t think the bride would want to give her jewellery back to anyone!)
So visit our stall to see our (re) creations and find something truly unique. I will be available all day if you have any questions or want to talk to us about our bespoke creations.
If you like our jewellery, don’t forget to also follow my Etsy Shop and Facebook so I can keep you updated with all my new creations!
