In the first of our Patcham fair interviews we welcome a new seller to our fair – Katie of Craft Drawer. Find out more about her creations and meet her in person at The Fairy Tale Fair Patcham on Saturday November 21st.
Please introduce yourself and your brand…
Hi, I’m Katie, the owner of Craft Drawer. I design and make contemporary textile pieces, from free-motion embroidered artwork and soft furnishings through to hand embroidered jewellery.
How would you describe your style and your creations?
As the daughter of a welsh deerstalker I spent a lot of time outside when I was younger; so as a result I list British wildlife, astronomy and traditional sampler designs among my inspirations. I also can’t resist a bit of metallic thread – there are a few pieces that might appeal to a magpie in my collection!
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I really like the research phase of my work where I’m dreaming up new products and being experimental. As a designer it can be hard to narrow down this phase and start moving towards an end result sometimes!
What can we expect to find on your stall at The Fairytale Fair Patcham this November? And are you looking forward to taking part?
I’m really looking forward to my first time at The Fairytale Fair! You’ll be able to find my complete range of textile and embroidered products, including some new pieces especially for the Christmas season.
Do you have any plans or ambitions for the future?
I would like to start looking into local stockists for my work and other selling opportunities throughout the year, as well as online. I do like meeting my customers in person and getting immediate feedback!
Do you have a motto or an inspirational quote?
Not as such, but I do like E.V.’s ‘Like wildflowers; you must allow yourself to grow in all the places people never thought you would’. It reminds me to focus on what I want to do, and to continue to explore lots of undiscovered possibilities.
How can we find out more about you?
I am available on a plethora of social media accounts (as well as a shop and blog!):
