Following many years experience working in an intriguing mix of the holistic & interiors industry Dowden & Wood came about to offer a range of natural & beautiful product ranges to enhance the body & home; so everything from candles & soaps for creating that wellbeing ambience & daily luxury to beautiful glassware, hand painted curtain poles, upcylcled furniture, cushions & throws.
Tell us a bit about your creations and how you make them….
Our products are primarily produced in our studios on the sunny Sussex coast – soaps are made from scratch, either using the hot or cold process made with all natural ingredients, no SLS, Parabens or harsh chemicals. Rich in gently cleansing Olive oil, along with skin loving Shea Butter, Apricot Kernel & Grapeseed oil we then add a luxurious combination of butters & waxes to soothe & nourish the skin. Candles are eco-soy based, clean burning, with long lasting scents that will fragrance a room even when unlit & we use upcylced containers whenever we can to create that unique feel. We also offer a refil service to those that have a favourite container they just want to keep on using! Curtain poles are individually hand painted to our client specifications & interior accessories are sourced from talented creatives around the country.
How long have you been making your creations?
We have been designing & supplying bespoke curtain poles & interior accessories for over 10 years; hand made soaps & candles became a natural extension of this some two or three years ago.
Do you have a best seller or most popular item?
Oooh yes, in the Rustic Spa soaps range it has to be our Gorgeous Goat – made with fresh goats milk & scented with Rose & Jasmine fragrances, this soap is produced with the hot process method to produce a very mild soap that leaves skin silky smooth.
What do you enjoy most about your craft/ work?
Definitely experimenting & creating new recipes & creations!
Will you be selling some festive themed creations at The Fairy Tale Fair?
Well our products make great all year round daily treats but yes there may be a few festive items….
What are your plans or ambitions for the future, or have you already achieved them?
There’s always more to be achieved & new markets to introduce the benefits of hand-made creations to!
