Say Hello to… Georgie St Clair

Brighton, craft, EventsNo commentsDecember 1, 2014Claire

Please introduce yourself and your brand…..
My name is Georgie St Clair and I am an Artist & Illustrator, living in Brighton, UK. I create fashion inspired art and illustrations.

Tell us a bit about your creations and how you make them….
I love simple style and drawing beautiful, interesting faces. I’m obsessed with finding the perfect face or pose. The age of glamour,1950’s, haute couture and glamourous screen sirens such as Elizabeth Taylor and Audrey Hepburn, are a huge inspiration.

From there, I’ll create a pencil drawing, which I’ll scan and digitally enhanced. My artwork is quite often reprinted and collaged with anything from fresh flowers, real makeup embellishments or swarovski crystals.

How long have you been making your creations?
I decided this year (2014) to pursue art and illustration full-time (and around my 3 children). It’s an exciting start and I’ll be showing my newest creations at The Fairy Tale Fair.

Do you have a best seller or most popular item?
My digitally collaged ‘Vintage Man with Boots’ fashion quote print has been very popular. He is available as a greeting card and postcard now too, along with some other fashion quote illustrations.

What do you enjoy most about your craft/ work?
Being able to channel the never ending swirl of ideas in my head. I would quite possibly go mad if I couldn’t create my work.

Will you be selling some festive themed creations at The Fairy Tale Fair?
Yes. I’ve created some special designs with some very beautiful ladies as handcrafted gift tags and greetings cards.

What are your plans or ambitions for the future, or have you already achieved them?
As I said previously, my head is a swirl of ideas and ambitions!
I’d like to license my designs and explore the world of surface pattern design. Plus work on bigger scale projects such as window display design integrating my illustrations and collaged elements. I’d love to do a florist’s window – I’m available for commissions…!

On a more practical level I want to make 2015 the year I concentrate on my online shop, working with retailers and attending more craft shows. It’s going to be a busy year.

Describe what Christmas means to you in 5 words or less:
Sparkle, glitter & glamour!
