Today we say hello to the whimsical Little Things I Make and her fabulous foxy friends!
“Nothing pleases me more than being sat on the floor in a nest of pens, pencils, felt, buttons & thread – it’s my ‘rock n roll’!”– Little Things I Make
Tell us a bit about you and what you do/ make….
Little Things i Make is the name for the whimsical creations that sprout from my imagination, weave their way through pens & pencils to create odd little doodles which somehow stitch themselves into my cheeky felt friends. (I make peculiar Illustrations, Greeting Cards & Tote Bags as well as hand sewing Plush Characters, Brooches & Cushions).
How would you describe your style?
Madcap, fun & cute. My aim is to have fun with what I do & to make things that make people smile – whether that be from one of my illustrations or strange two-faced felt creature…
How long have you been making your craft items?
I initially began making my little things while studying Illustration at UCA, mainly as a result of not being able to afford to buy presents for friends & family. When I left university I wasn’t really sure of what I wanted to do (and became a little jaded) so the Little Things i Make were pushed to a dusty corner of my brain where they played game after game of domino’s for about 4 years.
A chance meeting with a Brighton Fox one early morning kick started my doodling & making again. I resolved to let them loose on the world! I’ve been actively selling on the Brighton Craft scene for about a year and a half now 🙂
Do you have a best seller? If so what is it?
I think my most popular & most recognizable creations would have to be my Foxy Friends. Sometimes I’m worried people may think I’m a little obsessed… 😉 Ooh, and my Little Bunny Brooches are always a hit.
What do you enjoy most about your craft?
I love the freedom of it! Nothing pleases me more than being sat on the floor in a nest of pens, pencils, felt, buttons & thread – it’s my ‘rock n roll’!
Do you take part in other craft events (fairs, open houses, markets etc…)?
I’m a huge fan of the Brighton Craft scene and I try to get involved with as much as possible. You can usually find me selling at the Makers Boutique Markets, Brighton Craftaganza as well as taking part in t he Artists Open Houses.
What products/ items will you be selling at The Fairy Tale Fair?
I will be selling my whole range of Little Things (Foxes, Long Legged Monkey Bears, Prints, Cards & Totes) as well as a few brand new *magical* creations especially for The Fairy Tale Fair !
What are your plans/ ambitions for the future? Or have you already achieved them?
To make a Felt Fox Army and take over the UK!!!
Any other comments you wish to make:
I can’t wait to don a pair of fairy wings & cover myself in *glitter* for the first ever Fairy Tale Fair!!!
