Today we catch up with Chelsey of Cotton Candy Caboodle, a regular at our online fairs over the past year, who we are really excited to welcome for the first time in person on Sunday 5th December at our So This is Christmas fair at Worthing Charmandean. Find our more about her and her fun and colourful jewellery…
Please introduce yourself and your brand….
I’m Chelsey, an American expat living in Brighton, and the owner of Cotton Candy Caboodle. I make fun, colourful, and quirky jewellery, accessories, and gifts! I work with resin, faux leather, punch needle, and crochet, and love learning new skills, so I’m sure I’ll be adding to that in the future!
How would you describe your style and your creations?
I’m all about colour and sparkle so you’ll find a lot of rainbows and other fun themes in my products. I love when people look at my wares and go “Ooh!” I live for that ‘kid in a sweet shop’ feeling and love making others feel that way!
Being kind to the environment is also one of my main values, so I reduce waste as much as possible by reusing or donating scraps, use only vegan materials, and use recycled or recyclable packaging – no plastic.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I’ve always been obsessed with getting my hands dirty and making tangible, tactile objects. Bright colours and glitter make me so happy (I’m basically a giant kid!) I also love being able to try new techniques and materials – I’m very much an experimental artist and can never sit still with one material for too long.
What can we expect to find on your stall at So This is Christmas on Sunday 5th December at Worthing Charmandean? And are you looking forward to taking part?
I’m so excited to be taking part! I’ve been a part of the Fairy Tale Fair online community for a year now so it’ll be amazing to finally meet other members and customers in person. You can expect lots of colourful earrings, necklaces, and even some Christmas tree ornaments. Definitely come say hello – you won’t be able to miss me in my full rainbow attire!
Do you have a best seller?
My large statement faux leather rainbow necklaces are a big hit. They take so long to make but are so worth it!
Do you have any plans or ambitions for the future?
My main goal is to make this my full-time job. I am so passionate about my little indie biz and love being part of the small business community. Next year I’d like to start growing a wholesale empire!
Do you have a motto or inspirational quote?
Life is too short for boring jewellery
Describe your Christmas in 3 words…
