Say Hello to… Kalee Jones

craftNo commentsMay 3, 2018FTFadmin

Today we welcome designer Kalee Jones who you can meet at our fair at Brighton Open Market on Saturday 12th May. Find out a little more about her first…

Please introduce yourself and your brand….

I’m Kalee Jones, a designer and artist from Brighton making modern pieces for you and your home. I create hand painted clocks and jewellery, and art prints inspired by my original paintings and collages. Some of my work focuses on positive mental health and wellbeing too, with a celebration of slow living and enjoying the simple pleasures in life.

How would you describe your style and your creations?

My style is fresh, contemporary and modern. I’ve taken my love of 80’s abstract design and given it an update, using softer, richer tones to create statement pieces for you and your home.

What do you enjoy most about your work?

I find the process of hand painting my wall clocks quite therapeutic, especially as I get to make them at my home studio usually with a cup of tea and the radio on the go.

What can we expect to find on your stall at The Fairy Tale Fair Fringe Festival Special on Saturday 12th May at Brighton Open Market? And are you looking forward to taking part?

I’ll be selling the final pieces from my limited edition jewellery collection, along with my prints and clocks. I’ll have a few sale items available on the day too with prices starting at just £1, so there’s something for everyone.

Do you have a best seller?

My Amber wall clock has always been a best seller, and was recently shortlisted in the Pinterest Interior Awards in the Best Product category, which was a real honour!

Do you have any plans or ambitions for the future?

Many! I’ve always got lots of project ideas on the cards. For this year I hope to exhibit at a few more markets; selling online can be quite a solitary experience, so getting out and meeting customers is a lovely part of the job.

Do you have a motto or inspirational quote?

I’m a big advocate of personal mantras! I have a whole series of Words of Wisdom prints dedicated to this as I find them incredibly affirming to have up on my walls in my studio.

My favourite at the moment is Do The Work. No matter who is or isn’t watching, keep doing the work, turning up and turning it out. The right people will notice in time.

How can we find out more about you?
