Today we meet Pear Pie Designs who we look forward to having back at So This is Christmas Worthing this Sunday…
Please introduce yourself and your brand….
Hi, my name is Daniel Pierce and I am the creator of Pear Pie Designs. I am based in the seaside town of Rustington. I studied Illustration at Northbrook College and this year launched my new illustration business.
How would you describe your style and your creations?
My style has evolved over my years of creative education taking an ingredient of all the work that’s inspired me and made it my own, which makes me love what I do. My illustrations feature detailed and intricate line-work. I spend hours on each illustration, and there is a lot of attention to detail. My most popular product to date are the bee, bear and a lion but ill be sure to turn up with some new favourites.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I love seeing an illustration develop from an initial idea to starting sketches, a lot of hours on photoshop, constructive criticism from my partner Claire, cups of coffee and then eventually I get a design I am happy to produce into a product. Its a long but satisfying process.
What can we expect to find on your stall at So This is Christmas Worthing on Sunday 1st December? And are you looking forward to taking part?
This is my second time taking part in the Fairy tale fair and I’m really looking forward to it. A lot of preparation has been happening over the past few months and it will be good to see it all come together. At my stall you will find a variety of prints and posters such as my lion illustration which works well in nurseries. I have some new designs that I will be launching at the fair including my insect trio of prints. I will also of course have my newly designed Christmas cards.
Do you have a best seller?
My bee is my most popular illustration and has been printed on various products.
Do you have any plans or ambitions for the future?
Pear Pie designs launched this year and I have lots of ideas for the future, there is a lot of products I would like to explore such a children’s books and children clothes. I guess my long term aims would be for my work to make its way into peoples homes across the country. I also would love to build up a base of regular customers who follow my work.
Do you have a motto or inspirational quote?
‘You Grow Through What You Go Through’ In the past Ive had two brain tumours and I am just grateful to be where I am now; A dad, a fiancé and doing what i love; illustration. I am proud to be building my own business and creative career. I do believe that the struggles you face in life you learn from and they shape you as a person.
Describe your Christmas in 3 words…
