Today we catch up with Bernie’s Glass ahead of our So This is Christmas Fair on 1st December at Worthing Charmandean…
My names Bernadette Stevenson & my glass company is called Bernies Glass Creations.
I’m a local Worthing Lady , whom has been working with traditional leaded stained glass & fused glass for the past 15 Years .
I am commissioned to make large, colourful leaded, stained glass windows to small window hangings, sculptures, table decorations & artefacts.
I also teach glass taster sessions in my workshop in my garden in central Worthing & offer gift vouchers , so a perfect gift for someone to have a creative experience & to take a beautiful piece of glass away that they have made themselves . I love teaching & cannot wait to open my kiln & see the creations made, by myself or others.!
I’m really looking forward to having a stall at The Fairy tale Christmas event , St Barnabas has a special place in my heart & anything to help this wonderful hospice is good for me.
You will find my stall by its colourful artefacts from pictures ,window hangings , small sculptures ,clocks, & lots of seaside features such as colourful glass beach huts & sailing boats, after all we do live by the sea.
My best sellers are my bottle clocks , which are the original bottles & labels , that I flatten in my kiln & reattach labels & turn into wall mounted clocks.
I’m recycling glass, so good for the environment . A lot of people bring me a special bottle , that I turn into a clock & they can have as a momento, from a special event, such as a champagne bottle from their wedding day!
In my stall at the event you will find colourful Christmas decorations , beautiful glass robins & coasters to brighten your table.
I feel it’s really important in our busy lives for everyone to take time out whether it be art, dance, singing or being creative in any form .When I take myself down to my workshop & create a piece , it doesn’t feel like work , it feels like my sanctuary & is very therapeutic . It takes the strain out of my life & everybody needs that!!
