We’re pleased to welcome Daniel of Pear Pie Designs for the first time to our blog and to our Worthing fair on Sunday 14th April, find out more ahead of the day…
Please introduce yourself and your brand….
Hi, my name is Daniel Pierce and I am the creator of Pear Pie Designs. I am based in the seaside town of Rustington. I studied Illustration at Northbrook College and this year launched my new illustration business.
How would you describe your style and your creations?
I hand draw my illustrations and then digitally colour and enhance the image. My illustrations feature detailed and intricate line-work. I spend hours on each illustration, and there is a lot of attention to detail. My recent illustrations include a bee, bear and a lion.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I love seeing an illustration develop from an initial idea to starting sketches, a lot of hours on photoshop, constructive criticism from my partner Claire, cups of coffee and then eventually I get a design I am happy to produce into a product.
What can we expect to find on your stall at The Fairy Tale Fair Easter Special in aid of St Barnabas at Worthing Charmandean on Sunday 14th April? And are you looking forward to taking part?
Its been my ambition to take part in the fairy tale fair since visiting a few years ago. I am proud and excited to be hosting a stall at what will be my first craft fair as a stall holder. At my stall you will find a variety of prints and posters such as my lion illustration which works well in nurseries. I will also be selling greetings cards, including an easter card I have created especially for the fair and notepads.
Do you have a best seller?
My bee is my most popular print.
Do you have any plans or ambitions for the future?
Pear Pie designs launched this year and I have lots of ideas for the future, there is a lot of products I would like to explore such a children’s books and children clothes. I guess my long term aims would be for my work to make its way into peoples homes across the country. I also would love to build up a base of regular customers who follow my work.
Do you have a motto or inspirational quote?
‘You Grow Through What You Go Through’ In the past Ive had two brain tumours and I am just grateful to be where I am now; A dad, a fiancé and doing what I love; illustration. I am proud to be building my own business and creative career. I do believe that the struggles you face in life you learn from and they shape you as a person.
What part of Easter do you enjoy the most?
I’m really looking forward to this years easter egg hunt with my son Noah who’s just turned two and eating chocolate with a big glass of milk.
