Today we meet Emily Booth Jewellery who we can’t wait to have for the first time at The Fairy Tale Fair Worthing on Sunday April 14th. Find out more about her and her jewellery before the day…
Please introduce yourself and your brand….
My name is Emily and I am the designer and maker at Emily Booth Jewellery. I am based in Littlehampton, West Sussex. I make every thing from a small spare room/workshop in my house & I share this with my partner and a little dog called Sonny.
I started making jewellery in 2008 after attending a fantastic course at Northbrook College in Worthing. From there I actually had a shop shared with two other designers for a while. I then decided to go to Sheffield Hallam university to study metalwork and jewellery which unfortunately didn’t really meet expectations.
I came back to jewellery nearly two years ago. I decided to design/make items on my own terms and try not to worry about what others think too much!
How would you describe your style and your creations?
I like to think that my style is modern and fashionable. I like to keep designs simple and not overly complicated, over the years i’ve noticed this is what clients prefer. I keep an eye on current jewellery trends and try to incorporate that in my work.
These days i’m mainly influenced by geometric shapes, abstract shapes and have become obsessed with making earrings!
I mainly use sterling silver as that’s what I know best but recently I’ve been using more brass with silver and I think the two really compliment each other.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
Lots of things! Mainly being able to hide away in a room and create pretty things from what is actually a very messy process.
I also love seeing people wearing what I have made, that is a huge compliment and really special to me.
What can we expect to find on your stall at The Fairy Tale Fair Easter Special in aid of St Barnabas at Worthing Charmandean on Sunday 14th April? And are you looking forward to taking part?
I will be displaying everything I have to offer! Expect lots of earrings, I have some new tropical leaf shaped earrings which I’m really pleased with. I love talking to people about my designs and seeing people handle and trying on the jewellery so please come and say hi!
Do you have a best seller?
My wave ring has been very popular and the silver wiggle earrings are really cool.
Do you have any plans or ambitions for the future?
I would love my own website one day but I don’t think I’m quite there yet. I also would love to get some pieces in a shop or gallery if they’ll have me.
Do you have a motto or inspirational quote?
not especially, although I do like what Michael Caine once said “Be like a duck. Calm on the surface, but always paddling like the dickens underneath”.
What part of Easter do you enjoy the most?
My mum usually makes a lovely chocolate easter cake and a slap up meal. I like the time off and being around family
