Today we welcome back Rebecca Chapman who will join us once again at Worthing Charmandean on Sunday 4th December. Find out more about her…
Please introduce yourself and your brand….
Hello! My name is Rebecca Chapman and I am a mixed media artist and Teacher of Art & Design
How would you describe your style and your creations?
My style is a bit of a Heinz 57 variety! I like to combine landscape painting with textiles and machine embroidery and I also create surface pattern designs taken from my original drawings. Nature and the rural / coastal environment is the constant inspiration for my work and I aim to create beautiful, original art work at an affordable price.
What do you enjoy most about your work
I enjoy the whole creative process…from being inspired by a particular landscape or a certain colour scheme to creating the final piece of work. I enjoy watching an image come together as I work with different layers of paint and thread – sometimes the images change completely as I start to add layers of texture and detail. The best part however is of course seeing someone else take enjoyment in the work.
What can we expect to find on your stall at So This is Christmas at The Charmandean Worthing on Sunday 4th December? And are you looking forward to taking part?
On my stall you can expect to see a range of original artwork to suit all budgets. I also take commissions and can produce bespoke pieces – perfect as an extra special gift. I’m very much looking forward to taking part – it was a great day last year which really got the festive spirit started for me!
Do you have a best seller?
My selection of ‘hedgerow’ notebooks sold really well last year and I will be bringing a new range to So This is Christmas at The Charmandean this year.
Do you have any plans or ambitions for the future?
Adjusting to returning to work after being on maternity leave will be my immediate future plans in 2017 – once I’ve mastered that juggling act (here’s hoping!) I’m planning on creating a range of greeting cards – watch this space!
What part of Christmas do you enjoy the most?
The simple stuff – getting together with family and friends – and of course the food!
