Today we welcome back Helen on Bobtails Boutique. Find out more about her creations and meet her in person on December 6th at Worthing Charmandean.
Please introduce yourself and your brand….
Hello I am Helen and I am the sewer behind Bobtail’s Boutique my lovely Mum is the knitter, Bobtail’s Boutique is a handmade baby and children’s clothing collection.
Bobtail’s was created in 2014 I have enjoyed attending lots of markets and networking sessions! Bobtail’s has released a Spring/Summer and Autumn /Winter collection for 2015. I am currently busy creating a new Winter/Spring coat and looking at designs for the Spring/Summer 2016 collection I hope to release at least one new dress, a boys shirt and a couple of new baby pieces! Grandma Bobtail is busy making eared and bobble hats at the moment and for 2016 there are some new fun items in the pipeline!
How would you describe your style and your creations?
The Bobtail’s collection has a mix of traditional styles, with a mix of modern styles including reversible dungarees and dresses perfect for those messy moments when you are out and about, through to classic styles such as collared dresses. I am busy with adding new items currently a fleecy insulated coat is at the ‘creation station’ for when I have free time between customer makes! The knitwear is based on traditional patterns and styles with collared cardigans and classic v-necks mixed in with some fun eared hats which are proving rather popular this Winter!
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I love seeing the pieces coming together, whilst I can imagine them in my head I am always surprised with how each piece looks when finished!!
I also enjoy buying the fabric I attend lots of big fabric markets but also support a lot of UK small businesses that sell fabric, ribbons and buttons and of course wool! I feel it is important for small businesses to support one another! I will have special offers on the day following the Small Business Saturday
What can we expect to find on your stall at The Fairy Tale Fair Brighton this May? And are you looking forward to taking part?
I am very excited to be attending the Fairy Tale Fair, there will be lots of hand knits from Grandma Bobtail and a variety of sewn clothing including some one off pieces especially for the Fairy Tale Fair, as always attendee’s can customise their choice of outfit by ordering through the website selecting their fabric choices and collect post free at the fair by quoting ‘market’ at checkout on the website.
Do you have any plans or ambitions for the future?
The Bobtail’s Boutique Facebook page is becoming quite popular and growing in numbers I will be continuing to add new items their first and releasing new ranges. There will always be one off pieces available through the website and Etsy stores. At markets I carry the full range. I will be introducing a line of bibs, children’s bags complete with a book and cushions over the coming weeks (hopefully some of these will make it to the fair!
Do you have a motto or inspirational quote?
