“I love seeing my drawings evolve into beautiful designs then creating them into products for people to then like themselves and want to buy my gifts! “– Gemma

Tell us a bit about you and what you do/ make….

My names Gemma and Im the creator of Gifts By Gemma-Louise. I’ve always been a crafter and studied a BA(Hons) in Surface and Textile Design finishing it two years ago, this is where my love of craft and handmade textiles came to life. Having wanted to turn my love and passion for my work into something more than a hobby, I set up Gifts By Gemma-Louise in January 2013, so its still very much in the early stages but I’m loving every minute of it! My work is made from eye catching floral designs created from original artwork drawn by myself then made into giftware products for all occasions, this is what makes my work unique as all the floral fabrics and papers I use are all my own designs so you wont get them anywhere else.

How would you describe your style?

I take my inspiration from flowers, I’m drawn in by their shapes, colours, textures and I love the details they have. I would say my work has a stylised look with striking patterns while using fresh colours.

How long have you been making your craft items?

The fabric and paper designs I have been creating over many years, Im always drawing and playing around with designs in photoshop but I started making my products in January 2013 when Gifts By Gemma-Louise started.

Do you have a best seller? If so what is it?

So far my greetings cards have been my biggest seller with lavender scented bags and brooches not far behind.

What do you enjoy most about your craft?

I love seeing my drawings evolve into beautiful designs then creating them into products for people to then like themselves and want to buy my gifts!

Do you take part in other craft events (fairs, open houses, markets etc…)?

So far Gifts By Gemma-Louise has held stalls at two craft fairs in Sussex and have another three booked in up till April.

What items and Mother’s day/ Easter gifts will you be selling at The Fairy Tale Fair?

I will be selling a range of greeting cards including mother day cards, there will be coasters, cushions, bunting, hair clips, hanging plaques, decorated wooden letters…. there will also be brooches and lavender scented hanging hearts which make lovely handmade gifts for mothers day.

What are your plans/ ambitions for the future? Or have you already achieved them?

I’ve got lots of plans for new designs and products but as its still a very new venture I’m focusing on getting products made for the craft fairs I have booked and will see what happens from there.
