My name is Debbie and I am the face behind Hey Diddle Diddle! Hand painted Designs. All my products that I sell at fairs are wooden and are hand painted by myself with fun original designs loved by children and adults alike. Although I also love to paint large toy boxes, transform old pieces of furniture as well as painting murals onto children’s bedroom walls.
-Tell us a bit about your creations and how you make them….
My products range from personalised children’s toy boxes, memory boxes, children’s chairs,Fairy doors, trinket boxes to small plaques and hanging hearts the list is endless! Some of my items are bought as wooden blanks which I paint and bring to life , others are found in car boot sales and second hand stores and are stripped down and up cycled. I’m happy to paint most designs to compliment children’s favourite themes and characters.
– How long have you been making your creations?
I have been painting for over 20 years, for a short time commercially and then just for family and friends who encouraged me to set up my own small business. I have a stall in Mabel’s Emporium based in Burgess hill and set up my own face book page just over 2 years ago to promote my work further.
– Do you have a best seller or most popular item?
My best selling products are my Memo boards which have decorative pegs at the bottom to clip all those notes and memos that clutter up our kitchens! Though my Fairy doors are increasingly popular, so cute.
– What do you enjoy most about your craft/work?
I really love it when someone asks me to paint something unusual or an item to match a nursery/bedroom , especially if the finished product brings a smile to there face!
– Will you be selling festive themed creations at the Fairy Tale Fair?
I will have lots of festive items on my stall including wooden tree decorations that can be personalised on the day and Santa stop here signs.
– What are your plans/ambitions for the future, or have you already achieved them?
To continue to build my business and promote myself and my work further.
