Today we welcome back Shani’s showroom, who will again be joining us at Brighton Open Market, next Sunday May 24th. Find out more about her creations…
My name is Shani Butchers and I’m a dressmaker from Brighton, I also make children’s clothes and gifts.
I take from 1940s and 50s vintage patterns and cut clothes in unusual fabrics that stand out in all the right way.
I run an internet business called Shani’s Showroom and take part in vintage events and craft fairs.
I’ve recently been making men’s wear as I found the boys dancing skeleton day of the dead shirts were popular with adults too. I scanned the net and vintage fairs for retro patterns and found a great style of shirt that I will be selling with added comb for the pocket ,how greats that? a comb pocket shirt!
This is my second fairy tale fair and I’ve been busy making up more eye catching cushion covers in attractive prints with cowboys, pin up girls, atomic and stylised cat fabric.
I also have a range of hand made head ties from original 50s fabric that will be modelled by Lou Lou my new head! that came in the post last week.
You might be able to find a pair of earrings from my quirky design clip or clasp backings to go with a head tie or a dress.
I do make to order so if you would like to come and chat to me about any idea you may have about something I will be only too pleased to talk fabrics and patterns.
As well as taking part in the fairy tale fair I will be involved in an open house this year at the Hanover community centre south over street on Sunday 31st May 11am-5pm..garden area “tea and cake”
