In the first of our Christmas stall holder interviews for 2018 we welcome back Dan & Adam of 11 Rugby Road. We look forward to having them back at Brighton Open Market on November 10th & 11th, find out what to expect on their stall…
Please introduce yourself and your brand….
11 Rugby Road is Dan Mackey (a graphic designer & maker) and Adam Johnson (a ceramicist and maker) and Egg (the pug). We are passionate about putting on Artists Open Houses in May and Christmas at our home at 11 Rugby Road but also taking our makes to craft fairs around Brighton!
How would you describe your style and your creations?
We enjoy making a huge variety of things. From £1 ceramic tree decorations to one-off wall art. Our modern prints and cards are always a hit (we only sell direct to the public) and we are helped by our Mum’s and friends to sell glass creations, crochet and silver jewellery.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
What we like most about craft is that you can have a go at anything. Along with work that we’ve made for years like ceramic Crunkles or Chip Bandet seagull, this year we have explored new media like paper craft art and
needle felt. It’s always fun learning new skills and talking to people at fairs about how they can have a go.
Do you have a best seller?
During our Open House we sell lots of our ceramic crunkles. Each are still hand pinched and fired at 11 Rugby Road and displayed in our grotto-like bathroom! During fairs our minimalistic Brighton landmarks catch peoples eye, and now we have them on coloured mugs and cushions!
What can we expect to find on your stall at The Fairy Tale Fair at Brighton Open Market on November 10th & 11th? And are you looking forward to taking part?
We can’t wait to show people the Christmas makes we have been working on! The Fairytale fair is our first sale of the winter season and will where we bring our Christmassy crochet sprouts, terracotta gingerbread men and new range of cards for 2018.
How can we find out more about you?
After the Fairytale Fair we will be taking part in the Artists Open Houses for three weekend from 24th November. Find out more on:
