Please introduce yourself and your brand….
Hello, I’m Alex and I run Darwin Designs. After studying illustration at university I wanted to set up my own crafty business where I could develop my illustrative style with complete freedom. Darwin Designs was launched in 2014 and since then I have gone on to create a wide range of products all featuring my original designs and have sent items to over 30 countries in the world!
How would you describe your style and your creations?
One of the reasons I called my business Darwin Designs is because my style and product range is always evolving as I experiment with new techniques and ideas. But I like to keep things quite simple and play around with colour and humour.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I love the fact I have complete creative freedom. It allows me to keep experimenting with different materials and styles and that means I’m always learning about new ways to create and will never get bored.
What can we expect to find on your stall at The Fairy Tale Fair Brighton on December 11th at Brighton Open Market? And are you looking forward to taking part?
I can’t wait to take part! Brighton is an amazing creative community and it will be a great experience to sell my work there and meet some new customers. My main product range is greeting cards so I will definitely be bringing lots of those to Brighton but I have loads of lovely stocking fillers and gifts too, like my notebook gift sets, stickers and embroidered patches.
Do you have a best seller?
This year my animal pins and patches have gone down really well. They are just too cute.
Do you have any plans or ambitions for the future?
I’d just love to keep on designing new products and hopefully watch Darwin Designs continue to evolve and grow.

What part of Christmas do you enjoy the most?
The Jonathan Creek Christmas special… closely followed by all the food and keeping up annual family and friend traditions.
