Today we welcome back Lilypea & Olive who joins us on Sunday 11th November at Brighton Open Market. Find out more about her and her colourful felt creations and gifts…
Please introduce yourself and your brand….
Hi I’m Di and I run Lilypea & Olive which I set up whilst on maternity leave.
How would you describe your style and your creations?
Through Lilypea & Olive I create things with lots of colour – accessories for hair, the home and things that make beautiful handmade gifts. My favourite time of year is Halloween so I really enjoy making the sugar skull bunting and using glitter pumpkins as photo props! I’ve become obsessed!
What do you enjoy most about your work?
That I get to use the creative side of my brain and its brilliant to see something that starts out as an idea turn into a drawing which then turns into an item you can hold or wear. I love watching the sugar skulls I make turn into characters – be that gentleman skulls with top hat and handlebar moustache or skull brides, or pirate skulls! The most difficult part is finding time to take photos and keep my social media accounts up to date!
What can we expect to find on your stall at The Fairy Tale Christmas Special on Sunday 11th November at Brighton Open Market? And are you looking forward to taking part?
It’s gonna be amazing! I cant wait to be a part of The Fairy Tale Fair again and am looking forward to seeing all the other stalls. I’ll be selling my Christmas wreaths, festive tartan bands, fairy wands, blossom hair bands, sugar skull bunting, holly hair clips, hand painted wooden bead keyrings and necklaces and lots of other handmade goodies! But I’m not looking forward to the cold and will hopefully remember to bring a chair which I forgot last time!
Do you have a best seller?
My fairy wands, blossom hairbands and sugar skull bunting are my top three best sellers.
Do you have any plans or ambitions for the future?
Yeh I need to create a machine to make more hours in the day! That and learn some better marketing skills. But I’m currently learning to speak and write Mandarin so that takes up any spare brain power I have!
Do you have a motto or inspirational quote?
JFDit 😉
And as a motto I try to shop independent now, in a bid to support other creative people and businesses. They’re more unique, one of a kind, made with love and by buying handmade crafts it makes sure that old skills aren’t lost.
