Say Hello to… Roberta Fidora

Brighton, Hand CraftedNo commentsAugust 2, 2015FTFadmin
Today we are pleased to introduce a Fairy Tale Fair newcomer Roberta Fidora who is travelling from Portsmouth along the coast. Find out more about her and what you can expect to find on her stall on August 15th at Brighton Open Market.
Please introduce yourself and your brand….

I’m a freelance illustrator, animator and future contender for ‘The Hoarder Next Door’. I also co-run The Portsmouth & Southsea Consortium and Etsy team with crochet aficionado Teapot Magpie and deafen people against their will as part of Curxes. The Fidorium is my Etsy shop, an independently-founded and colourful shop selling fun and offbeat vintage for any budget, plus humorous illustrated gifts and cards that I’ve designed, usually around cult musicians and birds.

How would you describe your style and your creations?

Bold, colourful and off-kilter plus all of my musician cards are drawn from a love and admiration of that artist, apart from David Guetta. He’s the exception.

What do you enjoy most about your work?

I’ve always enjoyed treasure hunting and I have a terrible record collection, so it’s nice to be able to incorporate those into the every day. Most of all though, I like being able to reward myself with generous tea breaks and listening to Foreigner remixes or Christmas music without complaints from other people.

What can we expect to find on your stall at The Fairy Tale Fair Brighton this Summer? And are you looking forward to taking part?

A more solid musical line-up than many festivals (in card and print form), enthusiastically-presented nostalgia, retro/kitsch home wares and Alan Wicker, my woven duck/security guard. I’m very excited to take part, duck and all.

Do you have any plans or ambitions for the future?

I’d like to do a zine about everything I’ve collected and kept and why it’s fun going back in time via other people’s unwanted items. I’d also like to see the musician-themed cards stocked worldwide by a large record store chain, but so far they haven’t returned my calls.

Lastly, I’d like to write a book about the rise, fall and potential rise again of the Little Chef restaurant chain.

Do you have a motto or inspirational quote?

I stand by the words “always outnumbered, never outpunned.” and leave inspirational quotes to the dark side of Pinterest, superimposed over sassy pictures of Minions.

How can we find out more about you?
