Today we introduce the super cute Sugarglass, who make the most adorable crocheted items. Lotus will also be conducting a crochet workshop, which is a great introduction to learn the basics of crochet.
“I enjoy the fact that I make a living out of creating something from nothing. Its very fulfilling as a human being…”– Lotus
Tell us a bit about you and what you do/ make….
We make hand crocheted accessories, like, cute animal face brooches, hats, scarves and snoods. We are currently adding amigurumi (the Japanese art of crocheted dolls) to our range.
In in the summer i also have a jewelry line with quirky necklaces, hand sewn bows and bow ties as well as bracelets and rings.
Our cutesy accessories are for both young and young at heart! If it doesn’t make you go awwww! its not a Sugarglass product!
Do you have a best seller? If so what is it?
The animal face brooches is always a big seller, we currently do bunny, bear, monkey, elephant, chicken, chick and cthulhu (the mythical creature from the novels by H.P. Lovecraft) in all sorts of colours.
What do you enjoy most about your craft?
The fact that i can work in my pjs! And that i make a living out of creating something from nothing. its very fulfilling as a human being.
Do you take part in other craft events (fairs, open houses, markets etc…)?
We partake in a lot of Anime, Manga and sci-fi conventions up and down the country.
The biggest one is MCM London Expo where there are 35,000 people through the doors over the weekend.
You will be providing a workshop for The Fairy Tale Fair- what will your workshop involve?
We will be doing crochet workshops, from beginners to the advanced.
Helping with any questions and advice on where to get the right materials for making amigurumi (the japanese art of crocheted dolls)
What are your plans/ ambitions for the future? Or have you already achieved them?
Having quit the day job for this, I feel I am already quite blessed. However, being able to rely on more online sales would be great, so I could spend more time at home with my doggie (and Sugarglass mascot) Clover.
