Please introduce yourself and your brand….
Hello My Name is Mairead and I am the creative behind The Wandering Mermaids.
In 2016, I went through a personal struggle and in that time of finding myself again I began making jewellery as a hobby. But it soon turned into something more, I fell totally in love with it.
There was something magic about creating bright, vibrant and unique jewellery that lit me up. It was from there that The Wandering Mermaids was born.
It’s my hope that my vibrant creations bring some fun, colour and magic into the world of the lovely people who wear my makes – even on those days where you are struggling and can’t seem to see the light.
How would you describe your style and your creations?
The first words that come to mind are colourful and fun. I am drawn to anything bright and vibrant and that reflects in my jewellery makes.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
The best part is connecting with the people that take an interest in my makes. Through The Wandering Mermaids social media I’ve connected with so many wonderful, kind and inspiring people ! I’m so grateful to have such a beautiful community of humans !
What can we expect to find on your stall at The Fairy Tale Fair Christmas Special at Brighton Open Market this November? And are you looking forward to taking part?
You can expect to find lots of colourful vibrant jewellery ! Even if statement jewellery isn’t your thing, I think all the colours will make you smile – people tell me all the colours make them happy.
I am so excited to take part ! I adore Brighton so very much so it’s my absolute pleasure to be taking part in this event !
Do you have a best seller?
I do, my best seller is my Rainbow Me Happy Earrings. Those babies sell out so quick – they are also my favourite. Still haven’t made myself a pair yet though 🙁
Do you have any plans or ambitions for the future?
I do indeed – but for now I’m keeping my plans quiet. I’m so superstitious and don’t want to jinx anything!
Do you have a motto or inspirational quote?
I do, it’s ‘ The greater your storm, the brighter your rainbow’
