Next up in our Christmas stall holder interviews we speak to Fiona of Glasshouse. We’re excited to have her for the first time on Sunday November 15th at Brighton Open Market. Find out more about her stained glass creations…
Please introduce yourself and your brand….
Hello! I am Fiona Thomson the creator of the brand Glasshouse, I am a stained glass artist/ jewellery and I share a studio with 2 other creatives in Hove.
How would you describe your style and your creations?
My designs are inspired by many things including geometric patterns, art deco, nature, travelling and architecture. I think my style is quite modern but I am definitely influenced by designs of the past.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I really enjoy feeling inspired and thinking up a new design, it’s so exciting when you imagine a new product and then I get to make it by hand afterwards! I also love knowing that someone out there has something I have made in their home, it’s a special feeling!
What can we expect to find on your stall at The Fairy Tale Fair Brighton this November? And are you looking forward to taking part?
Yes, I am looking forward to the market and getting in the festive spirit! I will be selling glass terrariums, jewellery and a limited range of etched Christmas decorations I have made in collaboration with Illustrator Becky Lu.
Do you have any plans or ambitions for the future?
I want to keep designing and making, hopefully one day I will be able to do this full time and not juggle doing another job.
Do you have a motto or inspirational quote?
I don’t really have a motto or inspirational quote but my brand Glasshouse does derive from the saying ‘People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones’
A phrase meaning people should not criticize others for faults that they have themselves, something everyone should remember!
