Today we’re pleased to introduce a Fairy Tale Fair newbie – Lucy of Map My Home who will join us for the first time this Saturday 10th November at Brighton Open Market. Find out more about her ahead of the fair…
Please introduce yourself and your brand….
I’m Lucy Dunkeyson and my brand is Map My Home. I use vintage maps to create home decor including lampshades, memory boxes and trays.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
It’s a nice break from looking after my toddler! That aside, I love the maps I work with. Some are 50+ years old and quite fragile and it’s great to be able to give them a new life as a beautiful object. I also enjoy comparing them to more modern maps to see what’s changed.
What can we expect to find on your stall at The Fairy Tale Fair Christmas Special at Brighton Open Market this November? And are you looking forward to taking part?
I’m really looking forward to taking part! I was there last year as a customer so it’s great to be the other side of the table this year. I’ll have some of the larger items that I sell on Etsy – lampshades and memory boxes – but I’ve also started producing smaller items especially for selling at fairs, so I’ll have map keyrings and Christmas decorations too.
Do you have a best seller?
My best sellers are custom map lampshades. Although I’ll only have Brighton, Sussex and London lampshades with me at the fair, I can make shades with maps of anywhere so I’ll happily take custom orders and have them made in plenty of time for Christmas.
Do you have any plans or ambitions for the future?
The Fairy Tale Fair this November will be my first time selling in person, so I’ll wait to see how this goes! I’d love to be able to sell at local fairs year-round.
Describe your Christmas in 3 words…
Real tree, always!
How can we find out more about you?
