I would like to get in to children’s book illustration one day, and own a lovely tea shop to justify all my cake baking!- Clair Letton

Tell us a bit about you and what you do/ make….
I am a Brighton based artist and maker. I paint colourful, fairy tale landscapes and make cakes, among other things.

How would you describe your style?
I am inspired by colour and love the work of artists like Paul Klee and Mark Rothko.

How long have you been in business?
I have been working as an artist since I left university as a mature student 10 years ago.

What do you enjoy most about your craft?
I love spending time in my studio painting and I spend a long time mixing my paints to get the exact tones and shades that I want.

Do you take part in other events?
I open my house in fiveways during the brighton festival in May, and in the run up to christmas. We open as “The Cake House” and showcase the work of local artists and makers.

What products/ items will you be displaying at The Fairy Tale Fair?
I will be bringing lovely cards, cake stands and colourful bangles.

What are your plans/ ambitions for the future? Or have you already achieved them?
I would like to get in to children’s book illustration one day, and own a lovely tea shop to justify all my cake baking!
