In the first of our summer stall holder interviews we welcome Rosa Pietsch for the first time to our fair. We have admired her jewellery for a long time and look forward to meeting her in person! You can find her selling with us at Brighton Open Market on August 15th.
Please introduce yourself and your brand….
Hi! I’m Rosa Pietsch, which is also the name of my brand.
How would you describe your style and your creations?
I make handmade jewellery, mostly using laser-cut materials but with the unusual twist of combining them with hand-cast resin. I mix the resin with things like gold leaf, silver leaf and holographic flakes, which adds depth, texture and a lot of sparkle.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I absolutely love trying new ideas and experimenting with materials and colours. I developed my technique of combining resin with laser-cutting after working on a hand-cast resin jewellery collection while learning about laser cutting – I thought they’d make a great combination. I recently went freelance to allow myself more time working on my own range, and I have really enjoyed being able to work from home and spend more time on my designs.
What can we expect to find on your stall at The Fairy Tale Fair Brighton this Summer? And are you looking forward to taking part?
I recently finished a new collection, inspired by vintage jewellery and floral embroideries found during trips to Thailand and India. Pieces range from small pendants to large statement necklaces and drop earrings, with lots of vibrant colours and patterns! I’m really looking forward to taking part – this will be my first time at the Fairytale Fair but I’ve heard great things!
Do you have any plans or ambitions for the future?
I’m definitely looking to sell my jewellery in more places, so I hope to find some lovely new stockists in the near future. I am also planning new additions to my range which aren’t necessarily going to be jewellery! I want to keep them a surprise but I hope to have them ready before Christmas.
Do you have a motto or inspirational quote?
I try to remind myself not to worry about what other people are doing or compare myself to others, I’m quite a harsh self-critic!
