Hello there! My name’s Karen and I’m the founder & owner of The Draper’s Daughter, an online store selling a carefully selected range of designer & organic fabrics, sewing accessories, stitch kits and gifts… for the modern maker
How would you describe your style and your creations?
Carefully chosen, modern and contemporary. We want to bring style and fashion to the world of home sewing.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
Design is very important to me. I love sourcing new, interesting & unusual products! It can be very time consuming, but also very rewarding. Finding a great product that’s not widely stocked is fantastic; like the Heather Lins Stitch Calendar Kits, they’re big in the States but not widely known over here!
What can we expect to find on your stall at The Fairy Tale Fair Brighton this October? And are you looking forward to taking part?
We’re thrilled to be exhibiting at the Halloween Fairy Tale Fair. As we are based just along the coast in Chichester, we’ve been keen to do an event in Brighton for some time, we just wished we’d discovered The Fairy Tale Fair sooner!!
At the October Fair we’ll have lots of sewing and stitch kits, most of which are suitable for those with little or no sewing skills, making them great gifts for experienced “sewists” and newcomers alike! We’ll also be bringing our range of Merchant & Mills sewing accessories and patterns; and our contemporary fat quarter bundles. Oh, and of course a few Halloween treats!
Do you have any plans or ambitions for the future?
We’ve just launched the first of our own label sewing kits, using Japanese designer fabrics, which have been really well received. We’re planning to build on this in the run up to Christmas and are also looking to sell wholesale.
