Say Hello to… U+ME Wooden Toys

craftNo commentsNovember 29, 2018Claire

Today we welcome U+ME wooden toys who joins us this Sunday at So This is Christmas at Worthing Charmandean. Find out more ahead of the fair…

Please introduce yourself and your brand….

Hello everyone! I am Klara and I am the founder of U+ME wooden toys which is a Brighton based, one woman company and a small independent business, set up at the beginning of 2018. I proudly work on the designs of my toys and decorations with a well established, independent manufacturer in the Czech Republic where they are also handmade, using traditional wooden toy making technologies.

The ethos of my company is to bring wooden toys and decorations to children and adults alike that are traditional, ethical, educational, handmade locally in a high-quality and from local – European woods, absolutely chemical-free, toy that don’t contribute to the massive pollution of plastic and other harmful materials.

Also we carefully chose colours that are bright and equal to both, boys and girls, we support diversity too! No toy and no decoration will ever be the same as they are created individually.

We are bringing back what has seemed to be forgotten – natural yet beautiful toys that are lasting for generations because they are loved and cared for, not to be thrown away like many other toys these days.

How would you describe your style and your creations?

Slightly unconvetional design, slightly silly, funny, light, definitely engaging to play and learn. Our designs won’t leave most people without a smile.

What do you enjoy most about your work?

The joy I help to create when children and also adults play with the toys or hang our mobiles to brighten up their rooms. The lasting value of the toys as a didactic medium that will be remembered for generations. The fact that I can contribute with my share to tackle the growing difficult situation with mainly plastic pollution.

What can we expect to find on your stall at So This is Christmas in aid of St Barnabas on Sunday 2nd December? And are you looking forward to taking part?

2nd December at Fairy Tale will have a big premiere of one of our most popular products and that is a flying seagull in blue and white colours! I am getting super excited to just think about being a part of such a great Fair as St Barnabas!

Do you have a best seller?

Certainly Walking animals on slide are on the top selling list. They fascinate with their simplicity yet leave children wondering about the science behind their cunning walks without any kind of batteries!

Do you have any plans or ambitions for the future?

Grow and set the brand firmly on the UK market and be widely recognized for our high quality wooden toys and decorations.

Do you have a motto or inspirational quote?

My motto in life to drink loads of positivitea

Life is a melody, so we can feel joyful and play

Describe your Christmas in 3 words…

Love, Friends, Family
