We’re happy to welcome back Anna’s Drawing Room to our fair this Sunday at Brighton Open Market. If you’ve not met Anna at one of our fairs before then you can find out more about her and her creations…
Please introduce yourself and your brand….
Hello, my name is Anna Vartiainen, designing and making under the name Anna’s Drawing Room.
How would you describe your style and your creations?
Plants and leaf patterns dominate my work, drawn in pen, or brush and ink and made into prints, cards and homewares. Stylistically there is a nod towards my nordic roots in the simple, clear, organic shapes and a love of monochrome.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I love those flashes of inspiration where I feel like I’ve had the best idea ever! Sometimes it’s in a composition or pattern coming together, sometimes it’s just thinking of a new type of label.
What can we expect to find on your stall at The Fairy Tale Fair Brighton on December 11th at Brighton Open Market? And are you looking forward to taking part?
As well as my staples of nature-inspired prints, cards and wrapping paper, I’m bringing mugs, new tea towels and hand printed accessories.
Do you have a best seller?
Apart from cards, it’s the tea towels. I think it’s because they make a great little souvenir, mum/auntie/new home gift, plus they’re easy to post!
Do you have any plans or ambitions for the future?
I plan to continue my journey into homewares, pattern and fabrics in particular. I would love to see my designs in some of the stores on my dream list.
Do you have a motto or inspirational quote?
I’ve said this the last 2 years but it’s still the same: ‘Just keep swimming!’ I watch Finding Nemo with my 3 year old on a regular basis and it’s an excellent piece of advice.
What part of Christmas do you enjoy the most?
Watching a family film, nibbling cheese, crackers and chutney.
How can we find out more about you?
