Today we welcome Chelsey of Cotton Candy Caboodle and her colourful accessories. We find out more about her style, inspirations and ambitions…
Please introduce yourself and your brand….
Hey! I’m Chelsey and I make handmade treats that look good enough to eat in the form of fun, colourful, and quirky jewellery, accessories, and gifts! From earrings to keyrings to magnets to coin purses and more, I have lots of colourful items to brighten your day. Whether you’re looking for ice cream earrings, a watermelon coin purse, or a doughnut wall piece, I’ve got you covered. I mainly work with faux leather, punch needle, and crochet.
How would you describe your style and your products?
I’m all about fun and sparkle and colour! And delicious food. My sweet-themed items are my favourites, but they do make me crave sugary things, which is both a good and bad thing!
What do you enjoy most about your work?
There’s something so empowering about taking something digitally and making it tangible. As a socially anxious introvert, I have trouble expressing myself and my interests with words, and my work really gives me an outlet to do that, and find other like-minded, fun-loving, creative people.
Do you have a best seller or favourite to make?
I think my best seller would have to be my big rainbow necklace, which is my largest statement piece! It takes quite a while to make because it involves using heat transfer vinyl on faux leather sheets, cutting many layers out, and then gluing them all together, but I think it’s so worth it. I’ve documented the process in my “Behind the Scenes” Instagram Story highlights if you’re interested.
What are your plans or ambitions for the future?
I’ve only been open since September, but I’m a dreamer and do-er. I’m incredibly passionate about my business, and want to make this my career in the long term. I want to continue to learn and grow and experiment and become more involved in the creative community and, most of all, have fun 🙂
Sum up your brand in 3 words…
Fun, colourful, and quirky, or so I hope!
Do you have a motto or favourite quote for inspiration?
“If you just work on stuff that you like and you’re passionate about, you don’t have to have a master plan with how things will play out.” – Mark Zuckerberg
“When you find an idea that you just can’t stop thinking about, that’s probably a good one to pursue.” – Josh James
